"His Delight" Tuesday Psalm 37:23

The Lord directs the steps of the godly,

He delights in every detail of their lives.”

Psalm 37:23 NLT

Do you ever feel like you are bothering God? As in your questions, repeated requests and/or continuous repentance must at some point become laborious for Him? The Psalms reveal a lot of relational knowledge about who God is and what He desires from those who spent time with Him as worshipers. In this scripture a truth is made known about God -

He enjoys being involved in the details of our lives.

He voluntarily interjects Himself into our life decisions and direction when we choose to walk with Him and, as the writer Paul later confirms in the bible, He then “causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him” (Rom.8:28 NLT).

David, the author of this Psalm, conveys his confidence in God’s love and desire to direct his life towards the good purpose He created him for. Shame and unworthiness can convince us that God is not interested in neither us or certain areas of our lives. David, however, knew God delights in every detail of our lives.

How would that truth change or affect the way we approach God? I think it has the power to help us offer to Him our whole lives rather than just compartmentalizing the sections we believe He does and doesn’t want to be a part of.

Maybe today you are in a joyful season and your heart readily agrees in faith with how much God is directing and leading you. I pray even more joy and confidence in His love will flood you today from this passage.

But perhaps you are in a season of confusion or pain and your hope is waning. If so, I pray you experience God’s delight in you today and hear His promise to work every detail together for good in your life.

He loves and longs to be involved with us. Let’s let Him in even more today in order to learn who He is and as a result discover who we are in Him.

I recently released a song which conveys the truth that God see’s us, knows us and loves us in the midst of anything.
